Bang's Blogs: Larfleeze vs Annihilus

“He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have.” -Socrates

Larfleeze, the Agent of Avarice.

Annihilus, the Living Death That Walks.

Greed manifests in the hearts of those who seek more, want it all, or desire everything, whether for better or worse. As long as materialism in all its forms, relics, and treasures are spread thin across the universe, there will always be those who will seize it all for themselves. And in the depths of space, these two aliens in the form of vermin and bug are after some of comic books’ most prized items, escaping their far away cosmic confines in order to satisfy their glutton for their trinkets, and protect the lives built on taking without remorse, even if it means crossing paths with the intergalactic organizations of the universe.

They are DC and Marvel’s greediest warriors; defenders of their weapons, dominions, with devastating armies at their beck and call if someone so much as eyeballs their precious prizes. But what happens when their lives are on the line in a battle that will tangle up the universe in a greedy brawl for the ages? Will Larfleeze become the new ruler of the Negative Zone, or will Annihilus be the one and only Orange Lantern? Well, only one will be able to say “Victory is MINE!” It's time to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!

Before We Start…

Both of these characters are pretty easy to look at in terms of appearances, it's been said to death before, so you already know what to expect in terms of what will be used; Pre/Post-Flashpoint and Earth-616. For Annihilus however, we have decided to ultimately include lots of his technology he has initially lost at times due to said technology being a massive part of the Annihilation Wave, which is a huge part of Annihilus as a character. An example would be the Throneworld, which he lost during the Thanos Infinity Finale, but it was used as a holding ship for a large portion of the Annihilation Wave. That does not mean every weapon he has ever held will be considered though, and for those not standard but still in the blog, there will be explanations as to why, so please watch out for them.

Background

Larfleeze

At first, the origins of the Orange Lantern were shrouded in mystery; not even the Guardians of the Universe could document what the rise of Agent Orange was, or why he was the way he is. Why he stole, why he cared for only himself, and why no one else could have the precious trinkets he owned. Over time however, much has been revealed pertaining to life billions of years ago, and where the legend of Larfleeze began before taking hold of the Orange Light. Larfleeze was born on the planet Sh'pilkuzz, a planet of farmers, and life was pretty miserable for the Sh’pilkuzzians. A race of galactic conquerors known as the Lakadians invaded his world, forcing Larfleeze and his family, who didn’t even want him due to his ugly appearance, into slavery. While in slavery, Larfleeze was forced to mate with a woman named Bronkia, bearing many children, but she did not survive the cruel rule of the Lakadians, prompting Larfleeze to revolt and flee his homeworld. He decided to sneak onto a wagon of dead corpses, being thrown into a fiery crematorium pot, but due to his physiology, Larfleeze survived, starting a prison riot before making a break for it and escaping the asteroid prison by ship.

To rebel against his poor circumstances and terrible upbringing, Larfleeze decided to dedicate his life to becoming one thing and one thing only; a thief. His first outing…didn’t go well. He stole an item of importance to the Manhunters, a cybernetic army made by the Guardians of the Universe as an attempted intergalactic police force. What was so important that the Manhunters would come after them you ask? It was a map made by a Guardian of the Universe named Krona, that led to the planet of Okaara. Larfleeze took his band of thieves with him to this unknown world, coming across a temple that told of the power of the Orange Lantern, the essence of avarice itself. When Larfleeze put his hands on the lantern, his head was filled with feelings of uncontrollable greed and envy, beckoned to take it all for himself, and all the power would be his and his alone. Unable to share the light in the palm of his hand, Larfleeze slaughtered the band of thieves he took with him, and the Orange Light gave him the gift above all gifts; the Orange Lantern ring. After receiving both the ring and the battery, Larfleeze felt a self-proclaimed revelation; that everything important in the universe belongs to him. Catching wind of Larfleeze’s criminal spree, the Guardians of the Universe intercepted him, keeping him contained in the Vega System, as they had the power necessary to defeat him if he was to escape.

Billions of years would pass in this unofficial imprisonment, and eventually Larfleeze was no longer the only holder of a lantern ring, as the Guardians of the Universe raised up a peacekeeping new fighting force called the Green Lantern Corps, channeling willpower to brave the threats across the cosmos. Larfleeze knew he had been in this situation before; imprisoned with seemingly no way out, but no one is ever truly alone in the cold and dreary space. Larfleeze traveled his star system, slaughtering anyone he found. A conqueror or a mad man would have stopped at just killing, but Larfleeze? He owned them, the way he owns his lantern powers. They were his. So he used their essence for himself, storing them in his ring to turn them into a hardened light construct of his very own, eventually raising up an army of undead warriors and monsters to lay siege upon the Guardians of the Universe. On that day, the Orange Lantern Corps was born; and it was all his.

Annihilus

The Negative Zone. A universe of antimatter that bears a negative charge, and is the space between the positive matter universes. No one knows where it came from, or how old it is. Due to the sheer polarity and hostility of life in this horrifying nightmare realm, one must wonder how life is considered inhabitable at all. How something good or bad could live in an empty expanse. Only a few resilient species have been able to navigate the zone, even becoming mighty enough warriors, or noble scientists, but eventually would fall to the passing of time, or the contraction occurring every millions of years that made it so survival became the only way of the zone. And within a body lies a tumor, one that eventually grew in size to become the ruler of the Negative Zone. He is known as The Living Death That Walks, or simply, Annihilus.

Eons ago in the Negative Zone, the people of the Tyanna attempted to use their advanced technology in the form of seeded life spores to inhabit the Negative Zone on barren planets in hopes to spread life throughout the zone. One such Tyannan ship unfortunately crashed onto a volcanic planet called Arthros due to getting hit by a meteor. Before their deaths, the Tyannans on-board released their spores onto the planet, to fulfill their duty, though unsure if life would exist on a planet full of magma. The fruits of their labor were not in vain however, as one of their spores evolved into an insectoid creature, with green skin and a frightening face. Due to his unique mutation, Annihilus had the intellect necessary to navigate his life, finding the Tyannan wreckage and educating himself on how to use their technology, which caused him to grow stronger and smarter. He built body armaments for himself and fashioned him a shiny new device known as the Cosmic Control Rod, a weapon that can harness energy and matter. With it, Annihilus set out with a new goal in mind out of a fear of death; to terminate all life that threatened his existence. And so, he set out to begin destroying the planets near Arthros.

As time went on, Annihilus would learn that the Cosmic Control Rod gave him a lifespan far greater than he thought, and made it his next goal to keep it in his hands only, and kill anyone who tried to take it from him. Thus, it only made sense that his first real enemies were the superhero family team of Earth, the Fantastic Four, who tried to take the rod from him to help with Sue’s pregnancy. After they retrieved the rod from him, Annihilus had gained enemies for life, and realized that harnessing energy can come in more ways than one, and began learning of new ways to harness it. This has brought him into conflict with some of the deadliest beings in the universe such as Thor Odinson and his father Odin, or when he attempted to harness the power of Sue’s son, Franklin Richards. But the final puzzle piece to his quench for power, was his discovery of the Opposing Force, the counterfeit power to the Power Cosmic. By gaining this power, Annihilus became the leader of the most terrifying army in existence; the Annihilation Wave. With the Negative Zone at his command, the universe was now in danger…of annihilation.

Experience & Skill

Larfleeze

Larfleeze is one of the oldest beings in the universe, being about two million years old around the Manhunter event, which would have happened billions of years ago. He lived on his home planet Okaara for only a millennium, and in all that time, the Orange Lantern dedicated his life to one thing and one thing only; greed. As such, Larfleeze has tangled with entire armies of some of the universe’s deadliest groups, such as the Controllers, the Guardians of the Universe, the Green Lantern Corps, and the House of the Gods of Tuath-Dan. Even before becoming an Orange Lantern, Larfleeze was pure greed, being a self-proclaimed master thief, which shows in his thieving achievements such as taking a box containing Parallax and a map made by Krona in his youth, stealing Barry Allen’s wallet without him noticing, or taking all of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in the entire universe. And despite seemingly not having much skills, Larfleeze was able to pilot transports at a young age with no formal training, showing that he is a quick learner as well. The best example is during Blackest Night, it was revealed that Larfleeze, in all his years of combat, is unable to read, and some months after that right before Christmas, he was shown writing letters to Santa Claus and even made his own original cookie recipe, implying during that timespan he learned how to read and write!

Annihilus

Though the Negative Zone came before him, Annihilus has cemented his role as the ruler, and has crossed paths with heroes and villains alike who step foot in his backyard, from the Mad Titan Thanos to the Incredible Hulk. Despite seeming mindless and a bit tempered, Annihilus is a mutated Tyanan, a race that released spores on barren planets within the Negative Zone, thus Annihilus has a remarkable level of intelligence despite seeming like just a mutated bug. Their technology was considered highly advanced, and after using a special helmet to beam all of the information on their technology to his mind, Annihilus became adept in using their technology and techniques, such as creating life forms known as the Borers. His technology expertise extends into being able to make his own technology, such as his gene transmuter or a device made to drain a portion of Odin’s power. He’s also able to modify tech that is not his own, such as when he modified Reed Richard’s technology to cause a mass panic by extending Null Space to cause a collapse on a multi-universal scale. When it came to the Annihilation Wave, Annihilus himself had a hand in raising his army, building the Mammoth ships and even the Harvester of Sorrows, which can destroy planets. His most impressive accolade however, is Thanos saying that Annihilus mastering the trick of teleportation from the Negative Zone to anywhere in Earth-616 is something not even Reed Richards has mastered, who has thoroughly studied the Negative Zone. As far as general intelligence, Annihilus has shown he has knowledge of how space works, as he was able to point out to Dr. Doom that Ant-Man and company are hiding in a blindspot outside of space and time when Doom himself couldn’t figure it out.

Larfleeze

Orange Lantern Ring

The shining jewelry owned by Larfleeze and Larfleeze alone, the Orange Lantern ring is what fuels the Orange Light, enhanced by Larfleeze’s own greed. The Orange Light is pure avarice; the primal essence and very concept of greed itself. The ring is considered one of the toughest objects in the entire universe, and due to being the only Orange Lantern, Larfleeze can manipulate the rings in ways unseen by other Lanterns. For one, his ring does not require a charge, and it can also work without an Orange Lantern Battery nearby. A single Orange Lantern ring holds the undiluted power of an entire Lantern Corps, thus Larfleeze is capable of increasing his charge all the way up to 7839% and even 100,000%, the highest amplifications we’ve seen from a Lantern (the highest Lantern amps we’ve seen other then this are when a Blue Lantern amps a Green Lantern, at 325%). His ring also has the potential to establish communication networks with other Lanterns, and although initially Kyle Rayner bypassed this ability, Larfleeze was able to key his ring to the communication frequencies of all major news outlets in the universe to alert him of key words, or relay DNA information to Larfleeze to show who is related to who. He can also casually scan the environment for life readings. The Orange Lantern ring also exists “out of time” and time does not exist in the traditional sense within the ring, where Larfleeze remakes his victims into his constructs.

Orange Lantern Battery

The power of the Orange Light is also contained in the Orange Lantern Battery, and can be used as a means to charge his ring if need be, or channel power directly from it in multiple ways. Larfleeze has been defending his Power Battery since he got it, billions of years ago, not letting the Orange Light or a single ring be taken from him. By peering into it, Larfleeze can see ongoing events happening light-years away. And sometimes, Larfleeze simply uses the battery as a physical attack, bonking anyone who tries to take it over the head, almost always having it on hand. Even when the Power Battery was briefly stripped from Larfleeze’s hands, he was not depowered and this only angered him. He’s connected to it as much as the Guardians are to the Green Lanterns. And most impressively, Larfleeze was able to capture and seal the Orange Lantern Entity Ophidian inside the battery

Annihilus

Cosmic Control Rod

The most valuable item Annihilus possesses, and the source of his near unlimited power, boosting his physical might and granting him immortality. He typically wears it around his neck, and with it can control energy, matter, teleport around the Negative Zone, turn from 2D to 3D, and slow down his lifespan. But another important aspect is that with the rod, Annihilus has complete control over the Negative Zone and its forces, namely the Annihilation Wave. If Annihilus does not have the rod, he cannot control the wave. On this matter, Dr. Doom theorized that whoever held control of the rod controlled dimensionality itself, or the space between all positive matter universes, of which Doom says there are an infinite amount of.

Quantum Bands

During his assault with the Annihilation Wave, Annihiuls was able to kill Quasar and obtain his Quantum Bands, doubling his power and energy and making him more of a match for those who stood against him, including Nova, Silver Surfer, and Galactus himself. Captain America claimed that someone who wields the quantum bands was around the same power level of Galactus or the Celestials. Annihilus no longer has the bands however, as at the end of Annihilation, they were taken back by Phyla-Vell.

Nega Bands

Annihilus stumbled upon his own pair of the Nega Bands, a weapon primarily used by Captain Mar-Vell, and are classified as Omega Level weapons. While it is primarily able to manipulate energy and teleport, Annihilus used them as a waypoint in order to reach Earth-616 and destroy it with his Positron cannon. However, the cannon was destroyed and the bands were stolen when Jane Foster cut off his hand, and repurposed into wedding rings for Hulkling and Wiccan.

Containment Devices

Throughout his conquests, Annihilus frequently has technology on board that he uses in order to capture powerful opponents, more than often to also drain them of their energy for his rod to siphon. He was able to contain the Hulk to siphon his gamma energy, a gene transmuter that absorbed Franklin Richard’s energy, and even build technology made to restrain Galactus and the Silver Surfer. And when he’s not siphoning energy, he also has plenty of technology for simple restraintment, such as tendrils that could restrain the Fantastic Four.

Spaceship

During his alliance with Blastaar, Annihilus had a ship known as the flying fortress, resembling a floating palace. It was capable of firing purple beams.

The Imperial Throneworld

Originally Arthros, the planet Annihilus was born on, was weaponized into an intergalactic battle station that Annihilus used, with an all new powerful Annihilation Wave to come with it. Its features to make it function are planetary thrust engines to allow it mobility, a global force-field that is so well-protected, that Dr. Doom cannot get past its force-fields, as they block teleportation from both Nightcrawler and Lockjaw, to the point where Thanos has to make a plan to augment Nightcrawler’s teleportation powers to breach the defenses (earlier they were capable of blocking Pip the Troll’s teleportation as well). On-board is a teleportation gateway system, which Annihilus used to teleport to the Posiverse (Earth-616), and is escorted by a fleet of warships from the wave. Eventually, Annihilus had captured Adam Warlock, who contained within him an entire universe and the power of their universe's Living Tribunal, allowing him to go on a siege, destroying planets and giving Throneworld more power to bring down the universe's mightiest combatants. It even killed; Gladiator, Captain Marvel, Loki, Black Bolt, Hulk, Terrax the Tamer, Nova, Hyperion, Dr. Doom, Thor, Silver Surfer, etc. However, after Pip the Troll woke up Adam Warlock on-board Throneworld, the entire universe, including Annihilus and the Throneworld were obliterated (See Verdict for more information).

Spy Drones

On board Throneworld, Galactus has camera technology via spy drones that probe the universe and give him panels to keep tabs on everyone in the universe Annihilus considers a threat, including Galactus and Onslaught.

Translator Device

Annihilus has an instantaneous translator device that allows him to understand languages such as English.

Guns

For his neutral special, he wields TWO guns!

Abilities

Larfleeze

Energy Construct Creation

Like all Lanterns, Larfleeze is capable of making hardened light constructs, drawing strength from avarice and only being limited by his skill and imagination. Whatever Larfleeze can make, he can unmake. Although Larfleeze mainly relies on the crushing power of his more sentient Orange constructs, Larfleeze has shown creativity, even if a little in making constructs on his own, such as weapons like a giant mace (who he hit Krona, the Mad Guardian with), an axe, a fist construct, large hand constructs big enough to grab spaceships, chain constructs, a drill construct, rocket constructs, sleigh constructs to imitate Santa Claus, or more creatively a construct that channels lava to burn other Orange Lanterns

Energy Manipulation

Larfleeze can also fire concentrated energy blasts of Orange Light at foes, and release them in a variety of deadly ways, as Larfleeze is always present where there is Orange Light. He can release big bursts of energy large enough to eclipse a moon-sized base or even an entire planet. He can create whirlwinds of energy powerful enough to overpower Errata, a goddess who is the physical manifestation of chaos itself to the point that Dyrge thought he was killing her. His blasts have harmed some of the most powerful Lanterns in existence such as when he blasted away Kyle Rayner, knocked out Atrocitus, killed Invictus, fended off the Guardians of the Universe, blasting Laord of the Hunt multiple times, and harming Hector Hammond.

Energy Absorption

Larfleeze is capable of absorbing, siphoning, or even draining energy from others, though it's primarily Lanterns. He threatened one of the Gods of the House of Tuath-Dan with draining their power, and the Green Lanterns were worried he would begin siphoning power out of their rings despite being at max charge. The Orange Lantern Constructs are capable of absorbing other Lantern Constructs, even those created by the Guardians of the Universe, Guy Gardner, and John Stewart, along with being capable of absorbing magic attacks, proving their absorption extends beyond Lantern energy.

Force-Fields

Larfleeze is capable of forging incredibly strong force fields out of hard light, taking the forms of shields, barriers, or even protection bubbles for people to breathe in the vacuum of space. His force-fields are durable enough to block Red Lantern napalm breath from Kyle Rayner (napalm breath has been observed ripping straight through space itself), a barrage of Orange Lantern attacks, and twice was able to block an attack from the Laord.

Flight

Larfleeze can fly through the vacuum of space, even being able to enter interstellar travel.

Biological Power Battery

Due to Larfleeze being greed incarnate, it has been revealed that Larfleeze’s true physical nature as the Orange Lantern is that of a biological power battery. Everything down to his flesh, bones, blood, and very cells are all coated in orange energy, making him a walking power battery and organic source of the Orange Light. This was proven when Larfleeze was used to charge the rings of other Orange Lanterns twice.

Orange Lantern Creation

Perhaps one of his deadliest abilities, Larfleeze can create constructs in a more gruesome way. One that involves killing someone and then taking their essence, appearance, identification, and soul itself (which has been reiterated multiple times) and being remade inside the ring, turning them into an Orange Lantern construct meant to serve Larfleeze. Many powerful beings have fallen to this terrible fate, such as the Controllers, Brainiac 2.0, and even members of the Guardians of the Universe. His constructs are also capable of performing this process due to having rings, such as when Glomulus killed the Green Lantern and replicated his power under the Orange Light.

Ring Tracking

Larfleeze’s ring has a unique ability to locate and track people by locking onto their energy signatures, from entire galaxies away. While on Earth in an unknown location, he was able to teleport to Lex Luthor’s lab in a single bound by tracking his energy signature.

Sealing

Larfleeze was capable of sealing a rogue construct Guardian named Sayd back into his Orange Lantern ring, and also famously houses the Orange Lantern Entity, Ophidian inside the ring. He can also absorb his energy constructs back into his ring

Construct Summoning

Even if his constructs are galaxies away from him, Larfleeze can summon or recall his constructs on a whim to his location.

Corruption

By merely touching the Orange Lantern Battery, Hal Jordan was corrupted by the Orange Light, being overwhelmed with greed as the battery bombarded his mind with temptations of power. It is also implied that the rings can cause the mind to go mad.

Enhanced Smell

Due to his Sh'pilkuzzian physiology, Larfleeze has an incredible sense of smell, such as when he was able to detect the presence of the New Guardians on the surface of Okaara, despite being underground.

Size Manipulation

By overcharging his ring, Larfleeze was capable of growing massive in size while fighting the Green Lantern Corps.

Resistances

Mental Manipulation: Was able to resist a mental attack trying to remove his hand due to always having his battery on hand. Briefly resisted Star Sapphire’s mind alteration, although eventually she overpowered his defenses. The ring protects Lanterns from the Third Army's conversion abilities, which broke down and decimated minds. Dyrge, a God of the House of Tuath-Duan became overwhelmed trying to breach Larfleeze's mental defenses

Emotional Manipulation: Ophidian, the Orange Lantern Entity, stated that Larfleeze is the only being in the universe that resisted his temptations, and Volthoom, the First Lantern, was unable to manipulate his emotions. Can resist the love manipulation of Ardora.

Heat Manipulation: Before becoming an Orange Lantern, survived being thrown into an incinerator and came out fine. His Orange Lanterns aren’t phased by lava.

Radiation: The Lantern rings protect them against radiation

Battlefield Removal: Broke out of imprisonment in the Phantom Zone in an unspecified time frame.

Assimilation: The New God Metron said that Lantern rings are capable of passing through the Source Wall, a place primordial gods have died trying to go, becoming a part of the wall.

Matter Manipulation: Due to their rings, Lanterns are stated to be resistant to the Third Army's conversion abilities, which completely rewrite a person's organic matter, and extract the heart

Annihilus

Fear Projection

An ability staple to Annihilus himself rather than the Cosmic Control Rod, Annihilus is able to project a wave of fear onto an opponent like a “broadcast”. It can cause an opponent to be so scared of Annihilus, that they will back out of a fight, or start running for their life, feeling like dread itself is overwhelming them. In some cases this wave of fear can almost neutralize or stiffen up the opponent, as Annihilus was able to scratch Hulk on the back, to damage his skin, something he himself could not normally do. This wave of fear has overcome even the mightiest of foes such as the Hulk, Gladiator, the Chandilar army, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Rebirth Cycle

Unfortunately, there have been times when Annihilus has been killed, but due to his nature as a member of the Negative Zone, he is not so easy to put down for good. He is able to regrow a new and full body through a cocoon usually, growing back into the Annihilus we know and fear. He has stated himself that he can die but will just be reborn over and over again. And the heroes of the Marvel universe know this. When an old man Johnny Storms suggests killing Annihilus, Hank Pym says that he will just be reborn in the Negative Zone, and Human Torch isn’t confident Annihilus can be killed. Reed Richards threatened to eradicate Annihilus and the Negative Zone with the Ultimate Nullifier if he didn’t hand over the body of Johnny Storm, but Annihilus welcomes the threat, claiming he will just resurrect himself endlessly, and Reed believes it, and abandons his plan, suggesting that Annihilus has a higher unkillable nature then most creatures. In the event of Annihilus being dead for a long time, he has been known to have contingencies, like when Catastrophus, a member of the Negative Zone, stunted his growth to rule over and protect the growth of Annihilus and the Cosmic Control Rod while Annihilus was regrowing in the Negative Zone.

Regeneration

After a battle with Thor that obliterated his body, Annihilus overtime was capable of regenerating his body/essence, though the process leaves him somewhat vulnerable until he is fully regrown.

Energy Manipulation

The Cosmic Control Rod grants Annihilus manipulation of cosmic energies, in various unique ways. One such way is using it to slow his cellular degeneration, and to subside things that would normally make a bug susceptible like cold, heat, and disease. It can enhance his strength, and be delivered to foes in numerous ways, such as a blinding light, explosion, beams from his mouth, depowering his enemies, or in an electric attack, which can be generated through weapons. He’s harmed powerful characters with his energy blasts such as Thor, Captain Marvel, Human Torch, and Mister Fantastic

Energy Draining

Just as Annihilus can use energy, he can also take it from others, even to the point of draining an opponent entirely. It is one of his most devastating abilities, commonly leaving opponents drained or unable to move or fight back. Most famously, he absorbed Quasar’s energy in order to steal his quantum bands from him, and has also absorbed a portion of Odin’s energy during Odinsleep, absorbed energy to power himself up from the Wizard’s machine, absorbed chrono-energy from Reed Richard’s technology to grant him molecular alteration, drained the life energy of Asgardians, and time powers (showing that he can absorb powers through the rod), or when he used his gene transmuter to drain young Franklin Richards of his energy, who at the time was still capable of one-shotting Ultron-8, the strongest Ultron at the time.

Energy Sensing

Annihilus has shown to sense the energy of others such as Nova Prime from as far as 9.2 light-years away.

Matter Manipulation

After absorbing energy from Reed’s technology, the Cosmic Control Rod began to harness more unique powers, such as control over matter and the molecular structure of objects, demonstrating this by molecularly bringing down Reed’s forcefield. Another feat of matter manipulation is when Annihilus evolved the bio-globes Reed sent to the Negative Zone by a trillion generations, making them much more advanced and able to adapt to any attack.

Construct Creation

Seemingly with the CCR, Annihilus can create constructs out of thin air made of solidified energy such as handcuffs.

Flight

Annihilus’ wings allow him to fly, though it is also theorized the Cosmic Control Rod grants him flying. He is able to fly through outer space at speeds much faster than the speed of light.

Force-Fields

Annihilus can also bend energy to his whim to create force-fields around him, likely to protect him from powerful attacks that would gravely injure him. He is precise and skilled enough to also make force-fields around others, such as when he put the Human Torch in a containment bubble. His force-fields are durable enough to withstand the Thing’s punches, and a supernova from the Human Torch.

Mind Reading

Annihilus can read memories to probe information, though he’s only done this on robots like the Super Adaptoid, so it’s unknown if he can apply this to mortals.

Monster Summoning

If Annihilus is ever on his own, he can use the Cosmic Control Rod to summon monsters, likely through portals from the Negative Zone to aid him in battle; monsters powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with the Thing and Human Torch.

Resistances:

Heat/Fire: Consistently withstands Human Torch’s flames, and states he’s been inside the heart of stars

Magic: His inhuman physiology made him immune to Scarlet Witch’s hexes.

Telepathy: Annihilus was capable of breaking free from Thanos’s telepathy.

Antimatter: Survived falling into an area of antimatter

Dimensional Manipulation: While passing through a junction of many dimensionalities, Annihilus was able to turn his body from 2D back into 3D, although the process put a strain on his body and the Cosmic Control Rod

Armies

Larfleeze

Orange Lantern Construct Army

The countless victims killed by the Orange Lantern have become an Orange Lantern Corps, an army of undead constructs led by Larfleeze. There are many victims, ranging from cosmic beings to gods to other Lanterns, capable of thinking for themselves but ultimately obeying Larfleeze. He can recall his constructs from galaxies away to fight for him, and knows everything his constructs do, due to putting energy tags on all of them. Larfleeze can morph his constructs and have them shapeshift into whatever he wants, as shown when he disguised Glomulus as an Orange Lantern ring. If his constructs were to ever be beaten or killed, Larfleeze can remake/recall them with a snap of his fingers… and they remember everything from before they were destroyed. His constructs also possess many of the same powers as Larfleeze, such as energy blasts, or more unique attacks like being able to phase through attacks, which has been described as flickering in and out of existence, making them extremely difficult for even the Guardians of the Universe to harm due to ‘not existing’. They can also restrain your mental will. There are many members of this army such as:

Glomulus: A former tavern cleaner on Okaara, who ravaged their warriors, eating them one by one.

Blume: Described as a god of hunger and roamer of the universe, feeding on material wealth from planet after planet.

Gretti: A young and impatient Green Lantern, serving over Sector 2828.

Sayd: One of the reborn members of the Guardians of the Universe, and one of their few female members, who offered her allegiance to Larfleeze to help stop Nekron during Blackest Night.

Brainiac 2.0: Brainiac unit likely modeled after the original Vril Dox in some way.

The Controllers: Offshoot Maltusians hellbent on controlling the entire universe, and rivals to the Guardians of the Universe.

Warp Wrap: A warrior from the planet Cairo.

Turpa: Originally part of the same guild of thieves as Larfleeze from the planet Ogatoo.

Clypta: Warrior from the Thieves System.

Annihilus

The Annihilation Wave

The fearful intergalactic invading army of Annihilus and the Negative Zone. Annihilus controls this insectoid army with the Cosmic Control Rod, and with it, has sieged entire galaxies, slaughtered entire worlds, faced down against entire armies such as the Kree Empire and have killed and captured cosmic beings many times. It is a massive army, on standby alone, the Annihilation Wave has a total of 15,686 ships, each with well-trained battalions of the Annihilation Wave on board, which according to Dr. Bultar, means they can strike anywhere at any point in the positive matter universe if they attack, as evidenced with a single fleet being dispatched to Earth in a moment's notice. A majority of these ships are the size of small moons. Some of the strongest ships such as the Harvester of Sorrows have energy beams capable of breaking down a planet to its most basic elements and destroying it, becoming food for the Wave.

Due to being creatures of the Negative Zone, they have unique powers suited for their invasiveness, like being able to transmute bodies into crystalline, disguise themselves as humans, or, mind-controlling via parasites (which worked on the likes of Terrax the Tamer and Moondragon), or being able to communicate with Annihilus from the Negative Zone. Additionally, by drinking an unknown liquid, someone can inadvertently cause the Annihilation Wave to spawn from inside their body, bursting them open from the inside. Some of these creatures even have mental resistance potent enough to resist Moondragon’s telepathy, one of the most impressive telepaths in Marvel. Aside from sheer numbers, members of the Annihilation Wave are also extreme powerhouses. Even the weaker creatures can fight on par with and overwhelm Nova Corp members and Skrulls, despite the opposing forces having the home field advantage. Some of the stronger ones can defeat some heavy hitters like Terrax and Drax. There are many variants suited for invasions both on land and in space, with more specific variants such as;

Eradica, Extermina, & Extirpa: The Queens of Annihilus, each commanding a portion of the wave.

Admiral Salo: Commands the Harvester of Sorrows.

Ravenous: The second in-command of Annihilus.

The Currs: Bio-weapons made from the Seekers, able to track cosmic energy.

The Centurions: Elite super-powered warriors selected from the worlds loyal to Annihilus.

Mammoths: The larger carrier ships for the Annihilation Wave.

Larfleeze

Guardians of the Universe

Larfleeze is one of the most recurring and threatening foes to the Guardians of the Universe. Time and time again they’ve expressed their fear in facing him, to the point of wanting to bargain with him if possible rather than take him down, and his constructs alone are capable of matching them, with Larfleeze even killing some at one point without even directly fighting them. He also hit Krona, the Mad Guardian over the head with a mace construct, and off-screen managed to mindhax a Guardian into submission.

Green Lantern Corps

Larfleeze has faced many of the most iconic Green Lanterns such as Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, and John Stewart many times. Even stripped of his battery and most of his power, he was capable of matching Hal Jordan and breaking his constructs. His constructs alone are capable of overwhelming Green Lanterns and breaking their constructs. He and his army have also faced the entire Green Lantern Corps at once on many occasions, thus he should be superior to them in power.

The Emotional Entities (Debatable)

Larfleeze was directly stated to hold a power compared to Parallax itself, and was capable of beating and containing the Avarice Entity Ophidian, and has taken hits from those who are possessed by the entities (See Verdict for more information).

Misc. Lanterns

Larfleeze has also tangled up with other Lanterns and their Lantern Corps, and is considered far more powerful then even some of the physically strongest ones. He knocked out Atrocitus, fought against the Sinestro Corps, and nearly killed off the Blue Lantern Corps with his constructs. His constructs also fought Arkillo, Saint Walker, Fatality, Bleez, and Munk at the same time.

Invictus (Debatable)

Despite Larfleeze killing Invictus, he never fought Invictus while both were at the peak of their power; the only times they interacted were when one of them was significantly weaker than the other and Invictus was only defeated after he was taken away from his power source.

Annihilus

The Fantastic Four

Annihilus is a consistent enemy to the Fantastic Four, and has proven to be more than a match for them in terms of overall power. He’s fought and knocked out the Thing, frequently shrugged off Human Torch’s flames and supernova, and even punched a hole in the Invisible Woman's force field, shattering it completely.

Thor

Annihilus has made a case for being one of the many warriors who can stand up to the Mighty Thor, having nearly knocked him out in their first encounter, survived Mjolnir being thrown into him, and was stated to be capable of going toe-to-toe with Jane Foster Thor.

Misc. Avengers

Annihilus’ quest for annihilation has found him face to face with many of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, such as Captain Marvel, Nova (both Richard Rider and Sam Alexander), Quasar, and Vision. He was able to blitz a team of Avengers including Miles Morales, Captain America, Thor, and Ms. Marvel

Blastaar

Another Negative Zone native and ruler of the planet Baluur, Blastaar and Annihilus have been observed as rivals, with Annihilus having fought him and the Balurrians, the same race as Blastaar many times.

Weaknesses

Larfleeze

Being the Avatar of Avarice comes with some major drawbacks; the most major being that despite all his power and accolades of being the only Orange Lantern, Larfleeze…is a massive idiot. He has a horrible memory and barely pays attention, and at one point didn’t even know how to read. He is easily blindsided by his greed for the most miniscule of possessions, often going insane when things are out of reach from him ever so slightly. He is also constantly paranoid and will often panic if there is ever the threat of losing his precious trinkets. And while he does not require a ring charge, a powerful enough opponent can break his lantern ring if given the chance. He is also unable to absorb Blue Lantern energy, and his essence absorbing ability can be bypassed if the opponent has a powerful enough astral form, such as when Invictus moved onto the afterlife, robbing Larfleeze of another construct.

Annihilus

There runs a risk of constantly being at the top; that being, people will constantly want to steal your trophy. Or at least, that’s what Annihilus thinks about every living being ever. Annihilus is extremely paranoid, and believes everyone is out to get him and take his precious control rod, and when the rod has been taken, it has sent Annihilus into an absolute panic. It has been taken from him by Dr. Doom, Human Torch (twice), Captain Marvel, and the Thing. One reason for this that allowed the Fantastic Four to take it at one point was because Annihilus was never a good strategist, which is reiterated by Thanos that Annihilus lacks real combat experience and is not a tactician. And as stated before, without the rod, Annihilus cannot control the Annihilation Wave, along with a number of abilities. The fear projection wave has also been countered before, such as when Hulk outlasted the wave in a feeling of self-defense, and it seems to not be able to work on particularly powerful beings such as Thanos and Adam Warlock. And lastly, the mouth gap in his armor was identified as a weak point, which allowed Nova to rip out his insides.

Verdict

Stats

Among the wider cast of DC and Marvel characters, Larfleeze and Annihilus are by far some of their most powerful, being classified as threats that put them on notice from some of the most powerful assemblies in the universe such as the Green Lantern/Nova Corps, the Justice League, the Avengers, and many empires such as the Skrulls, or factions like the Guardians of the Universe. Due to their greed and lust for power, they have taken great measures in ensuring they can and will rise above their enemies, and kill anyone who tries to take from them. First, let’s go over Larfleeze’s overall power.

Being the one (and only) Orange Lantern, Larfleeze holds a power that few can say they have; the Orange Light. Avarice in its purest form, energy that flows through the universe and gives it another emotion, one strong enough to drive someone mad in hopes for higher power. And the universe's greatest warriors know it, with even the Guardians of the Universe seeing his power as a treasure they too would like to hold. And one of Larfleeze’s bigger enemies without a doubt are the Guardians. He’s fought them since he became an Orange Lantern, from facing imprisonment to killing them for control of the Power Battery. The Guardians have faced against the likes of the Anti-Monitor, and still consider the possibility of facing Larfleeze to be troubling. And the Guardian’s very own Green Lantern Corps have also come face to face with Agent Orange many times. Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Guy Gardner…they’ve all faced Larfleeze, and Larfleeze has proven his superiority to them, even matching a Hal Jordan amped by a Green and Blue Lantern ring at the same time. He is also tremendously durable against such Lanterns, tanking a beating from Atrocitus before knocking him out, or surviving a stabbing from the host of the Predator, the Star Sapphire Entity, showing that Larfleeze’s durability should scale to his strength. He’s even survived more esoteric powers such as Bleez’s napalm breath, and Red Lanterns have been able to rip through space with their breath. Larfleeze has at times also faced enemies not a part of the Lantern mythos, such as the Gods of the House of Tuath-Dan, Brainiac 2.0 or the Controllers, who have been stated to have Big Bang level power. Beyond simple encounters and scaling, Larfleeze’s accolades also stand as a testament to the sheer power he holds when compared to other Lanterns. He’s also fought Invictus, another enemy that has required numerous Lanterns and Guardians to help fight against, though he wasn’t as involved in the fight and only delivered the killing blow, so it is debatable how he would have done with both at their peaks. He’s repeatedly stated to wield the entire undiluted power of a Lantern Corps, and twice has it been advised to be careful when facing against Larfleeze despite the presence of White Lantern Kyle Rayner; Sayd, a Guardian, referred to him as the Avatar of Avarice, and cautioned Rayner to be careful, and John Stewart didn’t feel confident in confronting Larfleeze despite having aid from White Lantern Kyle, the Guardians, other Green Lanterns and Sinestro Corps Members all at once. Thus, Larfleeze is a very powerful enemy in the hierarchy of the Lanterns, putting him above the likes of Hal Jordan or Sinestro, and comparable to the Guardians of the Universe, all with their own unique powerful feats that have threatened the DC universe or multiverse at times. Hal and Kyle have their own feats of stopping threats that were going to annihilate all of reality, and along with John and Guy, have faced off against even deadlier threats together such as the Guardians possessed by the emotional entities. The Guardians themselves have been stated to be capable of destroying all universes, and have faced even more dangerous enemies such as the Anti-Monitor as mentioned before. Thus, Larfleeze has much proof outright upscaling feats that involve facing threats above the multiversal threshold, with his own proof of power in the Orange Light. Even his Orange Lantern constructs have shown overwhelming power in numbers, capable of fighting on their own against the very same threats such as the Guardians of the Universe, and have many impressive feats on their own such as restraining Black Lantern Superman, nearly killing off the Blue Lantern Corps, or fighting Arkillo, Saint Walker, Fatality, Bleez, and Munk at the same time. Even without their leader, they are a force to be reckoned with.

In terms of higher arguments for Larfleeze’s power, one scan that often comes to mind is the statement from the Guardians of the Universe saying that Larfleeze contains a power as threatening as Parallax. Parallax is one of the most dangerous beings in the multiverse, being the conceptual embodiment of fear itself on a multiversal scale, giving the emotion of greed life. However, the nature of the sentence regarding the power is something that is considered debatable for what it really means. On paper, it seems weird to argue that Larfleeze is as threatening as someone like Parallax, and many longtime comic readers know the associated threat Parallax was when he possessed Hal Jordan in the events of Zero Hour. So let’s look at the arguments for and against this sort of scaling, or how it can be interpreted:

In order to really talk about the arguments for, the arguments against need to be addressed first due to the nature of the statement at hand. The arguments against Larfleeze being considered comparable to Parallax are a couple of things. The first one being, what the sentence really says. One of the Guardians says, “He contains a power as threatening as Parallax.” This could be referring to the actual power held inside Larfleeze’s Orange Lantern Power Battery, the Emotional Entity Ophidian, the embodiment of greed. Though the sentence prior is referring to Larfleeze himself, being called a “voracious mammal,” it can be interpreted that the threat he is containing or hiding is Ophidian, which would make sense. The Emotional Entities all on their own are considered a powerful threat, with even lesser known ones like the Butcher having fought the Spectre (Crispus Allen) twice. And given the Orange Light does stem from Ophidian, it can also be interpreted in that sense that overall, he is wielding the power of the Orange Light itself in a very literal sense due to what ‘containing a power’ can look like or soundlike narratively. Overall, the main argument is that the power contained is moreso referring to Ophidian rather than Larfleeze himself, which would make sense given both Parallax and Ophidian are part of the Emotional Entities. There are more smaller anti-arguments for this, but they are responses to the arguments for this scaling, which will be listed below.

In terms of the arguments in favor of Larfleeze being comparable to Parallax, there are quite a few different ones. The first one is looking at the context of the story (Green Lantern Volume 4 #40), and how Larfleeze/the Orange Lantern are talked about. In a couple of pages prior to the Parallax scan, the Guardians of the Universe stated that the Orange Light nearly depleted them of their ranks the last time they faced it. The way the Orange Light is described or talked about usually has nothing to do with Ophidian itself, no mention of him directly. In the previous comic, the Orange Light is described as a genuine light that shines bright, or as something that can be used to control the universe, in a way that describes it as a genuine power source, no mention of an entity or something tied to it. But of course, the argument against this is that Ophidian is the Orange Light, the avarice that runs through reality. Which is true by nature, but you can argue against this in terms of how the Orange Light is talked about, making no reference to Ophidian itself. Another argument is that Ophidian as a concept wasn’t really created when the Parallax scan happened. Issue #40 happened in May of 2009, and Ophidian was introduced an exact year later. However, the easy argument against this is that Geoff Johns wrote both these comics and very likely was prepping the existence of Ophidian down the line, given other entities like Parallax already existed in the first place. But this in turn creates another argument in support of being comparable to Parallax, that being the fact that Larfleeze was able to contain Ophidian in the first place, to the point where he says he made sure of the fact that he couldn’t get out. In the next comic, Ophidian states that Larfleeze was the only being in the universe that resisted his temptations, which when you factor how Larfleeze became an Orange Lantern and when Hal Jordan touched the Power Battery, implies that from the start, Larfleeze resisted Ophidian and immediately sealed him off due to being “nothing but want”. Although it is likely they didn’t necessarily fist fight, Larfleeze was able to seal off Ophidian, which in itself is a very powerful feat. But Lanterns inferior to Larfleeze have had their experiences against the entities, such as when Parallax fought Hal, John, Guy, and Kyle, with the four of them banishing Parallax into the Central Power Battery, and as stated before, Larfleeze is a walking Lantern Corps himself.

Ultimately, the arguments can be boiled down to two things: If you think Parallax and Larfleeze are comparable, it's due to the way the Orange Light is handled and with supporting evidence for how entities have been fought with in the past, and if you argue against it, it is due to the phrasing of ‘containing a power’ likely referring to Ophidian, who is contained in his Power Battery. If you decide on agreeing with it, Parallax has some terrifying feats and statements. The Parallax entity alone was so menacing, the Spectre was afraid of it, and when it was with a suitable host, Parallax performed feats such as outright killing Guardians of the Universe or matching the Spectre and ripping his face off. Though the Spectre has statements of being a threat to all of creation, it should also be noted that the Spectre’s can heavily vary in power, and scaling either to a full Spectre is incredibly wrong, and there are many showings or reasons to suggest this type of scaling is bad. In fact, when Hal Jordan became the Spectre, he considered it to be far greater power then he had when he was Parallax, so it is highly unlikely you could scale Larfleeze or even Parallax to any feats that go any further in cosmic proportions. Ultimately however, Parallax scaling or not, this will not affect the overall verdict.

Moving onto Annihilus’s own stats, the Lord of the Negative Zone is a force to be reckoned with. The Cosmic Control Rod alone has been called a source of near-infinite power, one sought out by the likes of Dr. Doom on more than one occasion, and has been noted as a threat by the universe’s greatest warriors, being classified by the Nova Corps as a universal level threat that requires all hands on deck to fight. At his roots, Annihilus is primarily an enemy of the Fantastic Four, one of the oldest and most powerful superhero teams on the planet, and has firmly placed himself as one of their most powerful enemies. When it comes to raw strength, Annihilus has fought and knocked out the Thing, and has tanked his toughest hits, to the point where Thing’s hand has hurt punching his armor (which can also survive the heat of stars), has frequently shrugged off Human Torch’s flames and supernova, the power of an exploding star, and most impressively, punched a hole in the Invisible Woman's force field, shattering it completely, a feat very few heroes or villains can say they have performed. Said force-fields have been capable of withstanding an Incursion, or a collision of entire universes, and have repelled many powerful beings such as the Hulk or Thor, further proving in raw power, he can stand toe-to-toe with his greatest enemies. Even some of Reed’s craftiest or most dangerous weapons have failed to hurt Annihilus such as his "wind bomb," which is as powerful as a hurricane all concentrated in one spot. But the Living Death That Walks has imposed his will across the cosmos in more places than just Earth, and many of the mightiest defenders have known the power of Annihilus. He’s shown his superiority against fellow Negative Zone creatures, ravaging their worlds and beating their mightiest warriors, including Blastaar, of which Annihilus has laughed off attacks from him and beaten him down, who can survive being inside of the Big Bang. Together, the two of them, with Syphonn, brought down a Soul-gem enhanced Adam Warlock with an energy blast. He’s faced against two of the Nova Corps’ strongest members, Richard Rider and Sam Alexander, beating the latter conclusively, killed Quasar during the events of Annihilation, faced Captain Marvel and Mar-Vell at the same time, and has faced entire Avengers rosters before. One particular roster was Miles Morales, Vision, Captain America, Thor, and Ms. Marvel, in which he demonstrated many impressive feats such as surviving Vision phasing through his chest and Thor cutting off his hand, speed blitzing all of them at once, and most impressively, his fight against Thor (Jane Foster). Annihilus was already stated to be capable of going toe-to-toe with Jane, and in their fight he was shown to be evenly matching her, to the point of being able to wear her down, fighting for hours on end and taking hits from Mjolnir. And it's not his fight encounter with the God of Thunder. In the past, Annihilus has fought Thor, nearly knocking him out in their first encounter, and has taken hits from the Eric Masterson version of Thor, and both have only gotten stronger since then. Thor is one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes by far, with or without Mjolnir. He’s consistently fought and beat the Hulk, and even in his classic era alone could shake the universe just by launching Mjolnir. Even the Jane Foster version of Thor has impressive showings, such as her fight against one of Asgard’s most revered foes, the Mangog. Jane fought against the Mangog, who she called more powerful than War Thor, the Destroyer Armor, Odin, and the Phoenix, drawing blood from him, and although Mangog proved to be too much for her, Jane found a way to outsmart it, by tying Mangog up in chains originally created to bind the Fenris Wolf, then tied them onto Mjolnir and hurled him into the sun. The mention of the Phoenix Force is a big one, as she has been stated to be capable of destroying and remaking creation on numerous occasions due to her nature as the death and rebirth of the cosmos. But similar to Larfleeze, such high ends feats are extremely unreliable to scale either to, as overtime, you can simply argue Thor has gotten generally stronger than Annihilus, given in their last encounter, Eric Masteron Thor’s fight with Annihilus caused the bug’s body to get obliterated, having to regenerate his entire essence again. Thus, you can argue Annihilus is comparable to Thor, but given more recent encounters, it is not likely Annihilus could replicate such feats on the level of ending creation itself. The Annihilation Wave on its own is considered one of the deadliest armies to roam space, spawning an entire event about their rampage called Annihilation. Their sheer might has slaughtered countless planets in the millions, and plunged the Andromeda Galaxy in disarray, leading to the fall of some of the proudest empires such as the Skrull Empire. Many different variants have stood their ground against the heroes who were ready to face Annihilus, such as Ronan the Accuser, Pre-Annihilation Silver Surfer (the Ravenous vs Surfer fight took place months before the 5th issue of Annihilation where Surfer keyed a device with the power level of Thanos), Nova, and the Human Torch, who was killed by the wave. A worthy army for the Lord of the Negative Zone.

But given the mention of more powerful beings on Larfleeze’s end such as the Guardians of the Universe or Parallax, people may beg the question, what about Annihilus scaling to Galactus or the Celestials?

One of the most cited scans for Annihilus to argue he has higher scaling comes from this panel, where Thanos observes that Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave have massacred the Shi’ar race, Galactus, and the Celestials. All very powerful people, matching if not outright surpassing the power of someone like Parallax or the Guardians of the Universe. But there is extremely heavy context to how Annihilus got to that point of power, and it will be explained as such about the problems with Annihilus having scaling to these skyfather level characters.

So flashback to the Thanos Annual comic which came out in 2014, the Thanos during Infinity War tells the current Thanos that in the near future, Annihilus will be involved in an event that will end all life and the universe itself. This is the best way to describe the next series of events that will unfold that will lead to the scan above.

Now we move onto Thanos vs The Hulk, a short comic run where the Hulk is captured by Pip the Troll and turned over to Annihilus and Blastaar, but since Pip knows the plans Annihilus and Blastaar have for what they will do to the Hulk, he finds Thanos due to both of them being members of the Infinity Watch, and asks to help save Hulk. Although he has no interest in helping Pip directly, the fact that Annihilus captured Hulk bothered him, and investigated. Annihilus is shown to be in a weakened state, as he needs Hulk’s gamma energy to regain power, as at the time Annihilus was relying on stand-in for meetings and excursions. He captured Hulk due to a cerebral disruptor, and Thanos tries to question Hulk via telepathy, but Annihilus uses a neural linkage device to enter the Hulk’s mind and intervene, stopping Thanos in the process by banishing him out of the Hulk’s mind. He enacted his first part of the plan, successfully absorbing the gamma energy of the Hulk, making him emerge into a body much larger in stature and stronger, sometimes referred to as Annihulk (Annihilus w/ Hulk’s strength but that sounds silly). With Hulk’s strength and the Cosmic Control Rod, Annihilus is able to match and overpower Hulk, overwhelming him with his fear projection until Hulk fights back, but ultimately Annihilus overpowers him again, to the point where Pip the Troll thinks if Hulk keeps taking attacks like that, he’ll be in serious danger. Now with this much power, he enacts the next part of his plan due to his increase in power; invade the Earth-616 universe.

Via his teleporting technology, he teleports himself and the Annihilation Wave to the Posiverse with technology spying on every threat to his power to continue his quest for obtaining it. The Throneworld teleporting reads off energy signatures that are detected by members of the Galactic Council, such as Gladiator and even Galactus himself picks up large amounts of power, and Tony Stark even mistakes it for another Cosmic Cube or Infinity Gems. But Annihilus was after another source of energy most people didn’t realize; Adam Warlock. And Thanos, mostly in the shadows, takes notice of this too, claiming that Adam Warlock’s current form is his most impressive and fascinating to date, but the story doesn’t tell us why. All the while Annihilus’ siege finds him already facing against the superheroes such as Gladiator, who was called Hulk’s equal in physical might. He also faces the forces of Chandilar and the Guardians of the Galaxy and easily brings them down, and Annihilus tanks a hit from Gladiator before easily beating him down and scratching him up, leaving him unconscious, saying the Hulk gave him a more engaging contest. Thanos even says Annihilus disposed of him much easier then he himself could’ve. Then, Annihilus with his teleportation technology begins wiping out the Shi’ar by teleporting mines directly into their ship and teleporting ground units to their surface. Meanwhile, Thanos is far off, with his old foe Adam Warlock, who is still confused about the power he holds. Thanos held all of the answers and explained it all to Adam Warlock; The explanation behind Adam Warlock’s surge in power is he had previously absorbed the Earth-19141 reality into his very being, which by extension meant he absorbed the essence of said universe's Living Tribunal into himself as well, as Thanos wanted to use Adam Warlock to speak to him. This great power is what Annihilus had been after all along, as it was a massive surge of energy that could fulfill his goal of wiping out all of his existence. But Thanos insists to go fight the bug himself, despite saying that Adam with his power could terminate his existence with a mere thought. Then, Annihilus fights Thanos, matching energy blasts with him until Thanos realizes how much stronger he has gotten, as he tanked a full energy attack, and as Annihilus is scratching his skin and punching him out, Thanos realizes Annihilus is evolving into apart of the cosmic norm, into a being like himself and Warlock, and takes the fight to outside so he can stop holding back (he initially did to let Gamora and Warlock get to safety), blasting him some more and unleashing a huge explosion of energy while saying Annihilus’ might rivals his own, and with his skill and experience and touting his fight against Galactus, Thanos is able to beat Annihilus in personal combat. But Annihilus came prepared with a contingency of his own. He had Dr. Bultar use one of their teleporters, and Annihilus kicked Thanos into the portal, teleporting him away to teleportation limbo, due to Dr. Bultar not setting a destination. With Thanos temporarily out of the way, and after beating the Guardians of the Galaxy, Annihilus manages to capture Adam Warlock, and Annihilus begins to demand that they tamper with his power, of which Dr. Bultar calls it an ‘infinite power’. Now while it may seem impressive at a glance that Annihilus was able to beat and capture Adam Warlock, it's not as cut and dry as this is made out to be. Thanos stated in the comic that Adam Warlock has not realized his true potential, which is supported by Thanos stating he needed to protect Warlock until he realized it before he could be captured, showing that at the time he wasn’t strong enough to simply end the entire fight against Annihilus. Due to Adam now in captivity of Annihilus, the Throneworld was able to fully teleport to the Posiverse, so with nowhere to go, Thanos pulls a fast one…and kills himself. And Annihilus enters the next phase of his plan; Annihilation!

Now we move onto the culmination of Annihilus’ plan in Thanos: The Infinity Finale, the last comic of the assault of Annihilus. Thanos revealed that he needed to kill himself in order to escape the Limbo dimension. When he finally woke up to Lady Death, it had already been three months after he faced Annihilus, and his rampage had only gotten worse. Using the Infinity Pool, he recounts the events from his lost time; Annihilus, with Hulk’s strength, has captured Adam Warlock (whose power was described as nigh-omnipotence, and who had previously just absorbed Earth-19141 into himself), and Annihilus while on the Throneworld, went on a rampage across the universe; massacring the Shi’ar race, the mighty Galactus himself, and slaughtering all of the Celestials. Now we arrive at the fabled scan above. Before it is talked about how this story ends, hopefully the context provided drives home the point that in order for Annihilus to have killed Galactus and the Celestials, he needed/gained:

-The Hulk’s own strength to evolve further

-The power of Adam Warlock, who had the entire power of a universe and their Living Tribunal in his being

-His own Cosmic Control Rod

-Adam Warlock restrained on his Throneworld and unconscious so his power could be tampered with, and portioned to him and his wave in order for him to slaughter such cosmic beings

Three months is easily a long time for infinite power like that to grow in someone’s hands, and with all of the power boosts stacked on each other, Annihilus had the means to perform a feat this dangerous. Due to capturing and absorbing Hulk’s strength, and absorbing and tampering with Adam Warlock’s strength, taking advantage of a mentally blocked Warlock who didn’t realize his full potential, with Thanos even noting that the Guardians would have succeeded against Annihilus if Adam Warlock came to full realization of his nigh-omnipotent power. Or to put it short, this was a massive amp. One that he wasn’t going to have for long.

Annihilus’ rampage finally catches the attention of the larger pool of heroes and villains in the universe, bringing them all together to form a plan to stand against the Throneworld, where Annihilus waited. But Throneworld is so well-protected, that the likes of Dr. Doom cannot get past its force-fields, as they block teleportation from both Nightcrawler and Lockjaw, to the point where Thanos has to make a plan to augment Nightcrawler’s teleportation powers to breach the defenses. Though the heroes and villains have the upperhand against the Annihilation Wave at first, things begin to go downhill very fast. Throneworld unleashes a beam so powerful it breaks the force-field protecting Thanos and kills Nightcrawler. Then the next energy beams kill the following Marvel heralds one by one: Gladiator, Captain Marvel, Loki, Black Bolt, Hulk, Terrax the Tamer, Nova, Hyperion, Dr. Doom, Thor, and Silver Surfer. With likely more dying off-screen. As Annihilus is chipping down the side of good, Pip the Troll comes out of nowhere to try and right his wrongs and stop Annihilus by waking up Adam Warlock, which was a really bad idea. When Adam woke up, he destroyed the entire universe, including Annihilus, even reaching and killing all of Abstracts, obliterating everything and everyone, except Warlock and Thanos, who Warlock had summoned to him, further backing the many Thanos claims that his full potential at the time was not reached, and the state of everything destroyed was beyond repair, with Warlock saying all of it was erased and couldn’t be brought back by his power

With the two of them left, they go to a place beyond time and space, to the Above-All-Others to bargain to bring reality back. Due to a deal struck between Warlock and the Others, reality was brought back to the point before Annihilus’ attack, where they learn that Dr. Bultar was actually Mephisto helping Annihilus this whole time. A couple of more less important events transpire, like Lady Death’s forces easily defeating the Annihilation Wave, and Mephisto being neutralized by Warlock, but at the end of the story, Adam Warlock devolves Annihilus into a small insect to neutralize his threat level, before Thanos steps on him and kills him, thus restoring order to the cosmos again.

But we know Annihilus can resurrect his body, so does he come back stronger or in this same Annihulk state? No he does not. His next appearance surfaces in the event called Infinity, an event where the Builders, beings created to help give the universe shape, started attacking the universe. Heroes and villains gathered alike for this cosmic event, including Annihilus, resurfacing in Avengers #20, where he is shown in his normal stature and unable to control the Annihilation Wave without the Cosmic Control Rod.

So to recap: Annihilus had a massive amp in power from absorbing Hulk’s strength, help from Mephisto, another powerful cosmic being, the Cosmic Control Rod, and tampering with an unconscious Adam Warlock in order to perform all of his insane feats which include killing Galactus and the Celestials, wiping out a large portion of Marvel heralds such as Thor, as that same power from Warlock alone wiped out the rest of the Abstracts such as Infinity or In-Betweener. This was due to containing a Living Tribunal in his body, an Abstract being as well. Such power ended up killing Annihilus himself, proving that this degree of power required massive amounts of prep time and capturing of enemies without getting physically involved and bringing him back to his normal state. And it isn’t out of the question that the power was used to amplify the Wave itself, since Warlock was essentially being used as a living battery for Annihilus to use on Throneworld, thus being capable of supplying this power to his insectoids through his rod or just via energy transference. You may be wondering, “how do you know it was the Wave and not Annihilus himself?” A close look at the wounds of Galactus suggest that something broke through and ate him from the inside out, and the Celestials are torn apart like their limbs were ripped off, all mangled up. Though Annihilus is inhuman, the Annihilation Wave is on another level of this kind of brutality, and commonly resort to ripping apart their foes and eating through them. Thus, these high end feats can only really point to this all being a massive amp, one that he lost afterwards. So the events of the Thanos Infinity Saga will not be considered standard for Annihilus.

Another feat that is often brought up to support this other feat is the capture of Galactus during the events of Annihilation; didn’t Annihilus beat and capture Galactus?

While he did have Galactus captured on his ship, he did not in fact beat him to capture him. Thanos at the time had willingly decided to help Annihilus, and before the event of Annihilation unfolded, Thanos went to two Proemial Gods named Tenebrous and Aegis, who embody aspects of the universe such as black matter, stated to have power on par with Galactus if not worse. Thanos claims he can take them to Galactus to fight him, if Thanos is allowed to turn him over to Annihilus as a prisoner for experimentation. They agree, and in the first issue of Annihilation, Tenebrous and Aegis defeat both Silver Surfer and Galactus, and both were gifted to Annihilus after being severely weakened, restrained in technology to harness their Power Cosmic. Annihilus had no involvement in actually facing Galactus. While he did later survive a blast from the Devourer of Worlds that spanned three star systems, Galactus was likely not at full power after just breaking free from Annihilus, and Annihilus also had the Quantum Bands protecting him., which Captain America compared in power to Galactus himself, of which are also non-standard due to being taken back by Phyla-Vell.

But even without Galactus or Celestials scaling given for Annihilus, the combined feats of downing Soul Gem Adam Warlock, shattering the Invisible Woman’s force-field, and matching various incarnations of Thor would still allow the insectoid to keep up in terms of strength and durability, as surviving the might of Mjolnir is no easy feat for anyone. However, Larfleeze showcases more impressive upscaling and individual feats on a regular basis than that of Annihilus, whether scaling is included or not, and Larfleeze in the end would be considered stronger and more durable for these very reasons, as equal stats assumes Annihilus would have similar upscaling to his best scaling chains from people like Thor. That being said, it is definitely arguable to say that Annihilus can still match Larfleeze and that he is in a similar tier of strength and power.

In terms of speed, both have impressive showcases of keeping up with some of the fastest characters in their universe. Larfleeze has kept up with every Lantern imaginable, from Hal Jordan to Atrocitus in fights, who can move at speeds massively faster than light to the point, or feats so fast that they cannot be measured. Hal Jordan alone has performed feats such as sending his probes to scan the Universe in a heartbeat, or when he flew across the universe with Guy Gardner in about 10 hours while their rings were on standby at a more casual cruising speed, which when calculated, would mean they can go 87.6 quadrillion times faster than the speed of light. Most impressively however, is when Hal used a plane construct, to catch up to Lightray, the New God of speed, from the farthest reaches of the universe, nearly causing a Speed Force singularity in the process. By himself, Larfleeze has shown impressive travel speed, such as flying to the Vega system to another solar system and back in a relatively short time frame, and has many instances of flying across entire solar systems and galaxies. Even his constructs alone have impressive feats of speed, like keeping up with Kyle Rayner in space, or when Glomulus traveled to every Lantern Planet and back to Earth in moments with gifts

Annihilus doesn’t have nearly as many speed feats as Larfleeze on his own, but he has shown to be capable of keeping up and dodging attacks from similarly fast foes, like avoiding punches from the Thing or energy blasts from Blastaar. Hes blitzed an entire roster of Avengers before including Jane Foster Thor, who should be comparable to Thor, who has many faster than light to immeasurable feats himself such as traveling to another universe in the time it took someone to pray, which would be about 9.275 quintillion times faster than the speed of light, or for more incalculable speed feats, his hammer Mjolnir can move faster than the mortal mind can conceive, with it progressing in speed until it transcended the boundaries between time and space, which can open dimensional rifts as a side effect. And the Annihilation Wave kills and ravages with quick succession, being able to take out millions of worlds in a single day. With the immeasurable feats that have been performed by Thor sometimes being in his classic era around the times Annihilus has faced him, you can argue in general speed that Larfleeze and Annihilus are comparable, though Larfleeze has more showings of individual feats in classic Lantern fashion. So overall in stats, Larfleeze is generally a bit stronger and more durable. Equal stats could be argued with absurd high ends involving Spectre and Phoenix, but ultimately Larfleeze has the better showings across the board, making Annihilus at most comparable in stats and not necessarily equal. So stats—at least strength and durability—more than likely go to Larfleeze. Speed is more likely than not even.

Arsenal & Abilities

If you’ve been around for a while you should know that when it comes to Marvel vs DC, stats end up evening out eventually, and aren’t always the deciding factor. Reasonably both Larfleeze and Annihilus could both be put at the upper levels of multiversal without issue. So why don’t we take a closer look at their abilities to see if we can discern anything that gives them the upperhand?

To start, A LOT of what’s in their kits end up overlapping or otherwise cancel each other out. The Cosmic Control Rod and the Orange Light are both insanely versatile, capable of doing pretty much whatever their wielders want. Both of them have force-fields, both of them have energy blasts that have harmed characters as powerful as Atrocitus or Thor, and the capabilities of absorbing energy. Though Larfleeze’s force-fields have shown more durability feats, ultimately they share some of the same base advantages. Similarly, even though Annihilus’ energy blasts have shown a wider variety of effects like vaporization and blinding light, a Lantern force-field is durable enough to withstand such energies. Both have also shown offensive force-field use in the form of containment bubbles, which would also cancel out with each other. In terms of how they generally fight, both Annihilus and Larfleeze are neck and neck, using powers unique to them and fighting alongside their armies.

However, there are some things that do tip in the favor of one or the other. Let’s start with Annihilus’ advantages this time. For starters, Annihilus’ energy absorption is FAR more potent and deadly than Larfleeze’s. Sure, absorbing the energy from Green Lanterns is powerful, but Annihilus has much more proficiency absorbing the powers from other beings and adapting from them. He’s taken the powers from Hulk, which let him absorb his strength, Quasar, which allowed him to steal his Quantum Bands, Franklin Richards via his gene transmuter, and even Odin, the All-Father. And unlike Larfleeze, he can even adapt from and gain powers from his absorptions, like when absorbed Reed’s time machine, which gave him molecular altering and time abilities, or the powers of the Asgardians, overall suggesting that Annihilus can gain drastic power boosts and even powers of his own. The construct army is possibly in the most danger of this ability, given they are in fact constructs of hardened light as zombified versions of deceased foes of Larfleeze, which means they are free food for Annihilus if they get close enough. And given the fact that Larfleeze himself is a walking energy source due to his nature as a biological power battery, Annihilus getting his hands on him doesn’t bode well for the Orange Lantern, nor the constructs either, as his construct army has shown that they are vulnerable to their own energy fired back at them.. And his molecular control was powerful enough to break down Reed Richard’s force-field, something that could likely be done for Larfleeze’s own force-fields despite their impressive durability. Larfleeze’s shields are tough, capable of blocking even the reality-tearing flames of Red Lanterns, but Annihilus’ absorption is so potent that it might not even matter. Even his constructs have been shown to be vulnerable to transmutation from powerful beings.

Sealing him inside the Power Battery might not work either. While we’ve seen Larfleeze famously enslave and seal his own Emotional Entity and the rogue Guardian Sayd, there’s a few caveats with this that might not apply to this fight. For starters, we’ve only ever seen Larfleeze seal beings connected to the Orange Light with his ring. Sayd and Ophidian are both intricately connected with Larfleeze’s powers on a fundamental level. It’s impossible to tell if Larfleeze could seal Annihilus inside the ring, or if he would even think to do that. As evident with the time Atrocitus sealed the Butcher, the entity of rage in his ring, it is more then likely that the sealing method is only applicable to characters with a similar type of power, which in Larfleeze’s case would be the Orange Light. Moreover, Annihilus could reasonably escape relatively easily. While yes, Larfleeze made it so Ophidian cannot escape, Annihilus is a bit trickier to keep in one place. Nothing really is stopping him from just portaling back to the Negative Zone using the Cosmic Control Rod’s control over matter and dimensions, and assistance from the Throneworld’s advanced teleportation technology would certainly free him of capture.

Speaking of which, what about Annihilus’ array of technology and his army, the Annihilation Wave? In small but effective ways, his technology benefits Annihilus a lot in terms of what type of fight he is getting into. For starters, if for some reason Annihilus decides to send out the Annihilation Wave while he hangs back in the Throneworld, Larfleeze is going to have a troublesome time reaching the Lord of the Negative Zone. The force-field surrounding the massive spaceship is so advanced, that it blocks out all teleportation attempts from characters as powerful as Dr. Doom or Nightcrawler, the latter of which specializes in teleportation, so Larfleeze’s ability to teleport via locking onto an energy signature likely won’t be able to work. And on the flipside, Annihilus will always have eyes on Larfleeze due to the spy drones on-board the Throneworld, which keep tabs on the universes’ most powerful beings that are considered a threat, and the Agent Orange certainly would appear on that radar. His most useful technology have a variety of uses, particularly for restrainment of characters to siphon their power, and Annihilus has crafted technology that can restrain and take the powers of the likes of the Hulk, Franklin Richards, and even Galactus and the Silver Surfer, so if Larfleeze were to somehow find himself entangled with some tendrils, it also would not bode well for him.

As for the Annihilation Wave, the biggest advantage by far compared to Larfleeze’s army is the sheer numbers advantage is far greater and more versatile. 15,686 ships containing soldiers of the wave alone that can strike anywhere at any time from Throneworld teleportation is a threat, and that’s not even counting the many different units, each with different abilities and functions like the Seekers, Commander Vessels, and the standard ground units. The more specific members of the Annihilation Wave have been observed as fighting against heralds such as Ronan the Accuser and Nova, and only get stronger from their transmutation on the lifeforms they consume, with entire fleets of these monsters able to be teleported into battle in a moments notice. And while some weaker variants would be torn to shreds by the Orange Lantern, monsters like the Queens of Annihilus or Ravenous would certainly put up a fight against Larfleeze, and pose a problem with hordes of insectoids by their side attempting to rip Larfleeze apart like piranhas with their prey. They’re powerful, can resist any mindhax attempt Larfleeze tries to pull, can shapeshift into humans, and be sent anywhere at any time in the battle against Larfleeze.

However, the largest elephant in the room is Annihilus’ sheer inability to die. His regeneration already ensures he can come back from a horrendous beating from someone like Thor (Eric Masterson), and his inhuman nature as a Negative Zone native mean that he has an infinite cycle of rebirth, if his body was to be destroyed beyond repair, eventually he will be revived back in his home turf. He can reform his body from being blown apart, and even if he does ‘die,’ so long as the Annihilation Wave remains, Annihilus will always be reborn, as he has used members of his army as stand-ins while his body goes through its rebirth cycle. Heroes such as Hank Pym, or even Reed Richards have attested to the unkillable nature of Annihilus, abandoning plans they would think work due to how unkillable he is. Reed himself threatened to take out Annihilus with the Ultimate Nullifier, taking out Annihilus and obliterating the Negative Zone, but even then Annihilus welcomes the threat, repeatedly stating that he will continue to be reborn over and over again. In order to totally kill Annihilus, Larfleeze would need to totally destroy the Annihilation Wave, an entire army of bugs inside two universes, and even ensure the destruction of the Negative Zone somehow. So let’s see what Larfleeze brings to the table in terms of his advantages.

This is a no-brainer, but obviously, Lantern Constructs will always beat out the weird solidified energy cuffs that Annihilus can pull out. Larfleeze’s made all sorts of weapons and tools from his ring while Annihilus…. made a pair of handcuffs that restrained Namor. Riveting stuff there, bug man. Anyways, the constructs Larfleeze makes are powerful, capable of restraining foes in bubbles or fending off range attacks with barriers, and dealing great damage physically to characters like the Mad Guardian Krona, and are meant to keep an opponent at bay. Larfleeze’s construct making is very versatile, capable of channeling heat through them or allowing Larfleeze to grow larger just by overcharging his ring

As far as Annihilus camping out in the Negative Zone or Throneworld or trying to trick Larfleeze with illusions goes, Larfleeze can shut that down pretty fast. Larfleeze’s ring can track people no matter where they go, not too dissimilar to Annihilus’ own tracking via his Throneworld spy drones. While both have this ability, it benefits Larfleeze far more and ensures that Annihilus cannot stealth his way out of this fight, and in turn, Larfleeze’s constructs are able to fight and function without Larfleeze there himself, so neither can really run away from the fight.

As far as more important abilities go, Larfleeze should easily resist Annihilus’ fear projection. Though fear from the Sinestro Corps has fended off the constructs in the past, Larfleeze himself has incredible mental fortitude. While Annihilus has put Gladiator and even the Hulk on the backfoot with this ability, Larfleeze was able to completely shrug off Ophidian’s millenia of temptations and manipulations, and even the First Lantern, Volthoom, wasn’t able to mess with his emotions. Even his other emotions like love being manipulated didn’t work, as Larfleeze resisted this too. Furthermore, mind probing likely won’t work on Larfleeze due to his fortified mental defenses that have overwhelmed foes trying to break in

In terms of matter manipulation or breaking down force-fields, it is also not the best wincon, as Lanterns were able to resist the Third Army's conversion abilities, which completely rewrite a person's organic matter, and extract the heart. Sure, it was not Larfleeze who resisted it but all rings share similar basic abilities and resistances. Many people may also ask about Annihilus' having time powers. While he did absorb the ability to warp time by draining Reed's machines, later in the comic Bug used the Cosmic Control Rod to go back in time and prevent Annihilus from gaining these powers, by using the rod's time abilities to put Annihilus in a loop that prevents him from reaching Reed's machines, undoing the rod's ability to warp through time, which is consistent given in much later stories Annihilus had to go through extensive measures to teleport to Earth-616.

Perhaps the biggest potential counter to Larfleeze’s entire power set however is energy absorption. As established, Annihilus has absorbed energy and powers from a variety of characters, such as Asgardians, the Fantastic Four, Quasar, Franklin Richards, and even Odin. Before we can fully answer that question, we should also look at all the feats in which he used energy absorption. For starters, some of the feats Annihilus has performed on particularly powerful characters are moments that Annihilus needed much prep time for, or have some problems with arguing them as an end all be all argument. Take Franklin Richards for example. In order to siphon the energy from him, he needed a containment device in his fortress called the gene transmuter, and during the Thanos vs Hulk event, he also needed Hulk to be captured and taken to him in order to extract his gamma energy. As far as Odin, he had to wait for Odin to enter Odinsleep and capture him before he could extract a portion of his energy, as Odinsleep is when Odin is considered at his most vulnerable due to needing to recharge the Odinforce in a years worth of sleep, to the point where he is heavily guarded so his Odinsleep is not disturbed. Given Odin has resisted similar absorption before such as bearing the Odin-Ring, which can take away someones’ powers, and that Odin is someone much more powerful then Annihilus when awake, it's unlikely in a normal confrontation that Annihilus can absorb the power from him as easily, so he needed to absorb his power when he was at his most vulnerable and defenseless. In terms of the Asgardians and Quasar however, those feats carry much weight to them without any form of prep time via technology. He drained Quasar of his Quantum Bands to the point where he was reduced to nothing, and he was able to absorb the life-forces of nearby Asgardians, both with the Cosmic Control Rod. So can Larfleeze still hang with such a detrimental ability?

Absolutely.

For starters, Larfleeze and his constructs have shown energy absorption before. For starters, Larfleeze’s energy absorption was considered so threatening that the Green Lantern Corps were warned to max charge their rings, or else he will siphon all of the power out of their batteries. His constructs were literally shown to be eating through Green Lantern and Guardians constructs, and Torquemada, a necromancer, claimed that they were eating through his magic attacks as well, showing that they can absorb energy beyond energies from the Emotional Spectrum. Larfleeze himself once threatened to drain the energy of the Gods of the House of Tuath-Dan, who in that Larfleeze run, were described as harnessing the energy that binds the universe together. If his constructs can absorb non-Lantern energy, then it would be a bit strange if their leader and strongest member for some reason couldn’t, given Larfleeze made the constructs as they are, and energy absorption is typically an ability that Lanterns can and have demonstrated, and Larfleeze’s arsenal and physiology are what can keep him in the fight if Annihilus was to attempt to siphon his energy. As he did with Quasar, Annihilus will likely try to drain the power from either the ring or battery, as they are the weapons Larfleeze uses. As far as draining the weapons themselves, it's very plausible to say that this can work on paper, as the Orange Light is a very potent energy source compared to other sources Annihilus has absorbed such as quantum energy. But the Orange Light has some side effects not so notable until you remember the reason why there is only one living Orange Lantern in existence. The emotion of avarice that flows within the Orange Light has shown both from holding the battery and possessing a ring that it will drive someone mad with insatiable amounts of greed, with temptations from Ophidian flickering in their minds, corruption so dangerous and untouchable that Hal Jordan was shown giving into the temptations. So Annihilus is absorbing energy with corruption capabilities that will essentially turn Annihilus into an Orange Lantern himself. But given Annihilus can absorb the energy without having to take either weapon by force, couldn’t it be argued that he would grow more powerful even if he was corrupted, and still rebel against Larfleeze? After all, there have been times when Orange Lanterns have turned on Larfleeze in the moments when they were made mortal again. But those constructs are made up of the energy of the Orange Light, energy that Larfleeze can absorb back into himself. Why? Because Larfleeze does not rely on the ring or the battery. The ring doesn’t need a charge, and Larfleeze was still fine after not having his battery in his hand, stated to be connected to the Orange Light as much as the Guardians are connected to the Green Lantern’s light. This is supported by Larfleeze’s very existence, as he is a biological power battery capable of charging Orange Lantern rings and continuing to fight and supply this source of light, as it is a fundamental force of the universe that has been shown to be manipulated by Larfleeze best. In fact, the same scan in the previous link also showed Larfleeze perform another absorption feat, where he was able to recall all of his constructs back into his battery and charge his ring to 7839%, and charges typically require energy. If Annihilus was to somehow take the energy of the Orange Light from Larfleeze, it’s very likely Larfleeze is capable of taking back energy from those he gives power to, then there is nothing stopping him from just siphoning the energy back from Annihilus if he takes it, due to his control of the Orange Light that allowed him to resist Ophidian's temptations. When Hal was experiencing the corrupting effects of the battery, he was shown giving into the temptations, and Annihilus hasn’t really dealt with that kind of mental abilities, and would only give in, which would simply allow Larfleeze to siphon energy from him in the same way he can casually use his constructs to power up his ring charge. In fact, Larfleeze being able to absorb his constructs is even more supporting evidence for having back-ups if he was losing power from his ring or battery, as he can simply recall his constructs back to him to give him power. Given the constructs have their own Orange Lantern rings, and one ring alone has been stated to the power of an entire Lantern Corps, it is likely that Larfleeze, even with some struggle, can make it out of a potential energy drain, due to being the only person capable of manipulating the energy of the Orange Light with that amount of precision, thus he can simply take it back from Annihilus or use his constructs as back-ups to give him more power, since the Orange Light at large is a power not contained to trinkets, unlike that of Quasar’s quantum bands.

With three of Annihilus’s big abilities thrown out the window, Larfleeze’s offensive capabilities are potent enough to give the big bug some trouble. Just as we’ve discussed Larfleeze vs the Annihilation Wave, how does Annihilus fare against the construct army? The Orange Lantern Corps is a MUCH more dangerous threat than the Annihilation Wave. While the Annihilation Wave definitely is intimidating, and at the start it should be far more numerous than Larfleeze’s own army, it really lacks staying power like that of the constructs. While stronger members of the Wave could bat around lower-mid tier Heralds, the majority of the Annihilation Wave don’t really reach the same level of power as Annihilus himself or the people he fights, preferring to drown the opposition in endless hordes. Given the range of people fighting if not outright beating the Annihilation Wave can be people like Spider-Man all the way up to the Hulk, the Annihilation Wave seems to vary in power the higher you go into the hierarchy of the invading forces. Even still however, there are very powerful hordes, one that when swarmed, were able to kill heralds as powerful as the Human Torch through sheer numbers. But this strategy is prime to being directly countered by Larfleeze’s corps. Each of the Lanterns are akin to ghosts flickering in and out of reality, meaning directly harming them can prove difficult (likely in part due to the nature of the rings existing outside of time), and not only do even weaker members like Glomulus regularly prove to be a match for most Lanterns, but Larfleeze has the capabilities of endlessly bringing them back should they be ‘destroyed’, as shown when Glomulus was de-energized by Kyle Rayner, he was able to bring Glomulus back by the snap of his fingers and launch him to attack, remembering everything before they died, which also acts as a counter to Annihilus himself absorbing the constructs. And also, Orange Lantern Corps grows with every single entity Larfleeze kills. Even if the constructs themselves secure a kill, the identity theft ability will kick in and their essence will be turned into another construct to be a part of the army. With the Annihilation Wave’s strategy of throwing EVERYTHING at you, it’s only going to end up fueling Larfleeze’s own power in the long run, and the balance of power can quickly shift into Larfleeze’s favor should the battle go on for long enough. And just as the constructs are vulnerable to transmutation, so are the insectoids of the wave, as shown when the Builders rewrote their genetic code to make them attack each other, and the constructs obey Larfleeze, and eventually, the numbers advantage will begin to turn around. This, along with the phasing abilities are likely a way to get inside the Throneworld if possible, since they aren’t teleporting, but phasing and flickering in and out of existence, and that combined with the potential flipping in numbers advantage, could eventually overtake Throneworld and break in if possible. Another odd ability the Annihilation Wave seem to possess is a form of transfiguration with their blood. By drinking an unknown liquid, presumably their blood, someone can inadvertently cause the Annihilation Wave to spawn from inside their body, bursting them open from the inside. While this could work on Larfleeze, getting to that point of forcibly making him drink the blood would be difficult, due to force-fields, construct summoning, and just generally better defensive showings, along with the fact that it does not seem like a power the Annihilation Wave take advantage of, given it was contained in a vile of some kind, almost like it was for a trap. And also, given Larfleeze is a Lantern, almost all of the time while he is fighting, he is flying, thus eliminating the need to worry about things like the Ground Hatchings. Larfleeze himself if he was to feel overwhelmed by the wave has plenty of options, such as force-fields, or just expelling an AoE blast of energy with a moon to planetary range, which could easily repel the wave, given their showings against AoE attacks before from Human Torch and their lack of direct durability feats, which can be even more powerful if Larfleeze overcharges his ring to grow giant, potentially extending his overall AoE attacks.

Which leads us into Larfleeze’s next two biggest advantages, the first one being the nature of the Orange Light itself VS the Cosmic Control Rod. Let’s talk strategy for a second. Given how protective and greedy these two are, it’s not out of the question that they’ll both set their eyes on the other’s favorite toy. Especially Larfleeze, who has taken far less than the Cosmic Control Rod such as Barry Allen’s wallet. The most likely scenario this fight will go is with both of them trying to take the other’s power source for themselves, and in this case, Larfleeze holds the advantage solidly. For starters, let’s say Annihilus attempts to take the Orange Power Battery or Ring for himself by hand rather than via energy draining. As established this…isn’t going to be easy. Larfleeze has fended off would-be usurpers and thieves for BILLIONS of years, and hasn’t let a single ring be taken from his horde. He’s fended off Hal trying to take the Battery while amped by a blue ring, only becoming madder as a result, and it’s questionable if this would even help Annihilus. Think back to when Ophidian was taken by Hector Hammond and later Krona. Larfleeze was still able to use his powers quite effectively for a good while before he began running low, and even when he was unable to summon his corps, he was able to fight evenly with Hal, smack Krona in the face and when Nekron began taking his corps, Larfleeze was able to fend off Atrocitus and a zombified Blume at the same time. Larfleeze’s very cells are bathed in the Orange Light of Avarice to the point where his connection to it is compared to the Guardians’ connection to the Green Light of Willpower, enough so that even Ophidian can’t override him, so taking the Lantern or the Ring isn’t a viable option for Annihilus to end the fight. Hell, it's a greater risk to Annihilus, as even getting close to the Lantern would be enough for Ophidian to begin tempting or possessing him, not a good scenario for the Living Death that Walks.

So surely, taking the Cosmic Control Rod would be just as difficult for Larfleeze, right? Well, not really. For starters, Larfleeze has a really good track record for taking other people’s stuff. He’s taken a box containing Parallax and a map of Krona, and even all of the KFC in the entire universe (again, so based). For a more combat-oriented case, Larfleeze was able to take a Blue Lantern Ring off of Hal Jordan, only really failing to claim it as his own due to the nature of the Blue Lanterns not really being compatible with his own power. So Larfleeze is good at taking others’ power sources, how good is Annihilus at defending his own? Not at all as it turns out.

Dr. Doom, Human Torch (on two separate occasions), Captain Marvel, and even the Thing have all been able to yank the Cosmic Control Rod from Annihilus’ greedy mitts, and while Doom has a history of depowering cosmic entities, The Thing and Human Torch aren’t really masters of stealth or subtlety, literally just yoinking the golden pill off of his neck. It doesn’t really seem like Annihilus has any fail safes in place to prevent the Rod from being taken from him like Larfleeze does, and in almost every theft attempt, it was simply taken by hand, no need for telekinesis or some form of absorption. This is really bad because unlike Larfleeze, taking the Cosmic Control Rod severely depowers Annihilus and severs his connection to the Annihilation Wave, being unable to control them. Which means no more absorption, no more matter manipulation, no more army and to an extent, a harder time reviving. This is a wincon both Larfleeze and the constructs are very suited for, with the latter being able to shapeshift like the Annihilation Wave like when Glomulus was disguised as an Orange Lantern ring, which could be used as a means to get the drop on Annihilus for one of his constructs to snatch the Cosmic Control Rod. And if ever the two were up close physically, it's almost a guarantee that Larfleeze would try and take it right from Annihilus, and certainly has the power to do so, given characters comparable in strength like the Thing were able to take it. So Larfleeze would also have a way to turn the numbers advantage around without having to use his identity theft abilities.

And finally, the question arises of if Larfleeze can eventually kill Annihilus. As established, Annihilus has regeneration that can regenerate his essence from fatal enough attacks that can destroy his entire body, and eventually, he will be reborn in the Negative Zone due to his connection to the Cosmic Control Rod and being the ruler of the Negative Zone. One problem that arises with the rebirth cycle is how long it takes. In most cases when Annihilus is shown dead, even when we are shown glimpses of his still body in a cocoon, it is not specified as to how long the cycle takes, which can feel even more vague given how time runs different in the Negative Zone, as Reed Richards stated that while in Earth-616, Johnny Storm had been dead for 2,757 hours (roughly three months) but for Johnny, he was dead for two years in the Negative Zone. But there’s also a fatal flaw with the rebirth cycle that might mean Larfleeze doesn’t even have to take the Cosmic Control Rod to put Annihilus down for good, disregarding the potential timespan of his resurrection. For anybody else, yes, Annihilus is borderline impossible to truly kill, but Larfleeze doesn’t NEED to kill Annihilus for good to stop him from coming back. He only needs to kill him once. The Orange Lantern Ring will enslave anyone who is killed by its wielder, going as far as controlling their minds and their very souls and putting them under his command. This works on even the most powerful beings like the Controllers or even other Lanterns, stealing their entire essence, appearance, and identification. While Annihilus does have some protection against telepathy, soul manipulation is another thing entirely. As far as we know, Annihilus has zero protections on his own soul from being taken like this, nor does he have any showings of astral projection to avoid his soul being captured, and while being revived by Nekron was able to cut Larfleeze off from his Corps members, Nekron also enslaves the minds and souls of his Corps, whereas Annihilus doesn’t. Given the weak points around Annihilus’s mouth gap, forcing a construct down his throat and into his innards is one of many ways he can kill Annihilus in order to secure the absorption wincon. And his regeneration is still a process, so even if he started to reform himself, being specifically reduced to his essence, which is something Larfleeze can take, simply leaves him too vulnerable. An enslavement by the ring is 100% viable as a wincon as well as depowerment by taking the Cosmic Control Rod. Annihilus would essentially be remade inside the ring, and turned into a new member of his construct army.

So to review once more, their base power kits generally cancel out, being able to dish out and tank energy attacks, bring up force-fields, summon constructs and Negative Zone monsters if they feel threatened, both have ways to track the other down, armies with their own advantages, but when you start to look towards the bigger factors, Larfleeze has two very viable wincons that are both likely to happen compared to Annihilus’ single wincon that ultimately ends up backfiring on him, as absorbing the Orange Light runs the risk of corrupting Annihilus and Larfleeze simply taking it back. And if not that, Larfleeze can attempt to take the rod for himself and control the Annihilation Wave, or whittle them down with his constructs, turning them into his own constructs. While at first it seems like Annihilus has a general versatility advantage, when broken down, it becomes more clear that Larfleeze contextually has more effective hax against Annihilus, giving him an advantage in this category.

Tertiary Factors

In this category, there’s not a whole lot to go over. As far as intelligence goes, Larfleeze has a bad attention span and is kind of an idiot overall, and other fighters have frequently managed to get around him via superior intelligence. Annihilus’ himself is capable of building multiple complex machinery such as his spaceships and other weapons, but he’s also not much of a strategist or tactical leader in combat. Still, what we’ve seen is enough to deduce he’s at least a fair bit smarter than Larfleeze, though the latter’s quick learning nature and adaptability could let him keep up to some extent. With their armies, the Annihilation Wave is mostly just under the control of Annihilus with no real intelligence feats to speak of. Larfleeze’s constructs have minds of their own, but are generally under his direct command, and thus don’t have any impressive feats of strategy. If one were to take this category, it’d probably be Annihilus again, but not by any significant margin.

On the flip side, experience should handily go to Larfleeze. While Annihilus has fought his fair share of cosmic powerhouses across his history, Larfleeze has not only fought similarly powerful beings, but has done so on a more consistent record. Some of the fighters he’s even come across, such as the Guardians of the Universe, are beings on a level of power Annihilus has no direct experience battling against. He’s also been alive and traveling the universe for millions of years, while we have no frame of reference for how long Annihilus has been rampaging and ruling the Negative Zone. Even then, Larfleeze’s more varied history fighting against cosmic threats should give him the edge in this field.

Conclusion

"What's mine is mine and mine and mine, and mine, and mine, and mine! Not yours!"

Advantages:

  • Comparable in power, with better upscaling and arguments for being stronger

  • Matches Annihilus in speed, with more individual showings

  • The Orange Lantern ring’s versatility mostly matches that of the Cosmic Control Rod…

  • Construct army are generally stronger than the Annihilation Wave

  • His own energy absorption would counter Annihilus attempting to siphon the Orange Light due to its corrupt nature

  • More experienced by billions of years

  • Mental resistances would stand up against fear projection and mind probing

  • Ring tracking accounts for his constructs and Annihilus himself

  • Annihilus taking the Power Battery by hand would potentially corrupt him

  • Orange Lantern creation is something Annihilus cannot resist due to lack of astral projection or soul hax protection, and would simply become an Orange Lantern

  • Larfleeze or the constructs could steal the Cosmic Control Rod via shapeshifting powers or by brute force, completely flipping the numbers advantage

  • His nature as a walking Lantern Corps means Larfleeze himself could fare fine against the Annihilation Wave, especially with AoE attacks

  • His ring could resist any matter manipulation Annihilus tries

  • Legally owns a plot of land on Earth

  • Has his own cookie recipe

  • His Christmas Special

Disadvantages:

  • Much dumber than Annihilus, only knowing things involving thievery

  • Annihilus has better survivability, fighting without hands or with grave wounds

  • …But Annihilus’ energy absorption grants him more versatile powers like molecular control or power absorption

  • Annihilus has much better feats with energy draining

  • Annihilus’ regeneration is a big advantage nonetheless and anything short of killing him could be problematic for Larfleeze

  • None of Larfleeze’s base powers can put down Annihilus for good

  • Has much less resources on hand compared to Annihilus’ legion of technology

  • Constructs are far less numerous than the Annihilation Wave

  • Throneworld and Negative Zone teleportation can prove to be problematic for Larfleeze catching Annihilus

  • Only has one on-screen appearance (this injustice must be corrected)

“Only Annihilus is the death that walks!!”

Advantages:

  • Comparable in stats overall with scaling

  • Matches Larfleeze in speed due to Thor scaling

  • Energy absorption is far more potent than Larfleezes’s...

  • Annihilation Wave’s numbers absolutely crush the construct army, and also match the constructs in overall versatility in powers

  • Can deal with the constructs via energy absorption, and molecular control could easily break down Larfleeze’s force-fields

  • Much smarter, especially in terms of his ability to create technology that can siphon energy

  • Far greater arsenal, has more weapons, ships, Throneworld, and vessels overall

  • Throneworld’s teleportation technology nullifies Larfleeze’s energy signature teleportation

  • and can put fleets of the Annihilation Wave anywhere they want

  • Superior regeneration and survivability

  • Almost all of Larfleeze’s powers cannot put down Annihilus…

  • The undisputed king of trash talking his enemies

  • His Christmas Special

Disadvantages:

  • High-end showings for power aren’t nearly as consistent as Larfleeze

  • Every member of the Annihilation Wave that gets killed by Larfleeze or his constructs would get added to Larfleeze’s army, slowly turning Annihilus’ numbers advantage against him

  • …But absorbing the Orange Light would give Larfleeze more juice to simply take back and power himself back up again, and Annihilus would be overwhelmed by Ophidian’s corruption

  • Constructs can simply respawn by Larfleeze’s command if Annihilus absorbs them

  • Larfleeze resists fear manipulation and other methods of mental attack, along with potentially being able to resist matter manipulation

  • Has a history of getting robbed of the Cosmic Control Rod and Larfleeze is really good at stealing shit… fuck-

  • Is far less experienced compared to Larfleeze who has been alive for billions of years

  • …Except for his Orange Lantern creation, which would completely bypass the rebirth cycle and make Annihilus a part of his construct army due to no protection against soul hax or essence absorption

  • Hates poetry

  • Tried to be a telemarketer and failed

  • Was defeated by ad reruns and a dog

  • Got cut from appearing in two movies

Overall, how does this fight end up going? It’s safe to say that stats won’t matter too much in this fight. In terms of strength, power, and durability, Larfleeze can easily be compared to someone like Hal Jordan whereas Annihilus compares to Jane Foster Thor. That being said, it’s definitely more reliable to argue that Larfleeze has the better upscaling, as he has a multitude of statements of holding the power of an entire Lantern Corps and he’s actually proven this statement before, taking on Guardians of the Universe and well… a shit ton of Lanterns at the same time. He enslaved Ophidian and at the peak of his power, took down multiple Gods from the House of Tuath-Dan in just one hit. Jane Foster has fought Mangog in the past which, as a high end, can easily compare to these feats, but it’s simple to break down like this: Annihilus requires a scaling chain full of someone else’s high-ends to compare to feats and statements that Larfleeze has in large numbers. If someone gets an advantage in power (barring the ludicrous and unrealistic scaling to the Spectre or Phoenix), it would be Larfleeze. That being said, if you take Doom’s statement of the Cosmic Control Rod granting its user control over ‘dimensionality itself’ to mean Annihilus has control over the very idea of dimensionality, you could very easily shift the argument to mean both Larfleeze and Annihilus have equal stats or that Annihilus has an advantage. But this is the nature of comics. These things are subjective and when it comes to characters this powerful, you can argue either way! It’s easier to say they are similar and that Larfleeze has more individually consistent showings of being “more” powerful. Speed on the other hand is probably dead even. High-tier heralds like Thor, Gladiator, Green Lantern, and Superman are stupid fast. Larfleeze and Annihilus would scale to their feats of flying fast enough to break the laws of reality itself and would qualify for top-tier immeasurable speed.

When it comes to hax, neither Larfleeze nor Annihilus are lacking. At first, it might seem like the Cosmic Control Rod gives Annihilus more versatility than the Orange Lantern ring gives Larfleeze. While this is true, when it comes down to it, it becomes more clear that the abilities Larfleeze possesses are simply more effective against Annihilus than the abilities Annihilus has. While energy absorption can drastically hinder a Lantern’s abilities, Larfleeze is a living power battery and has the ability to absorb Orange Lantern energy back. While Annihilus has greater energy absorption, he can’t quite capitalize it against Larfleeze who has an infinite amount of avarice energy to fall back on. While one might argue that this means that Larfleeze is an infinite power source for Annihilus, they have to understand that Larfleeze can simply absorb his energy back or simply supercharge himself to become more powerful than Annihilus. Annihilus has absorbed power from Odin and Galactus—two characters who possess an infinite amount of power and are more powerful than both Annihilus and Larfleeze—so he should be able to drain Larfleeze in one go and leave him unable to absorb anything back, right? Nope. Annihilus required prep time for Galactus and with Odin, he specifically took advantage of Odin while the All-Father was at his absolute weakest. In a situation where we take Larfleeze at his best, there’s not a chance in hell that the voracious mammal would let Annihilus drain all of his energy at once. Matter manipulation would make it easier for Annihilus to get a hold of Larfleeze through his force-fields, sure, but the chances that he can directly affect Larfleeze with it are low. While you can argue that Larfleeze himself has never resisted matter manipulation directly, you can counter this by saying Annihilus has never directly affected organic matter with the matter manipulation. In a case like this, Larfleeze’s potential resistance would triumph. After all, all Lantern rings have similar basic resistances and it would be illogical that Larfleeze, a top dog of the Emotional Spectrum, would be vulnerable to something that even rings of no-named Lanterns could protect against.

Of course, the most important part of this argument is Annihilus’ immortality. How the fuck is Larfleeze going to put down Annihilus for good? There is no doubt that Annihilus has stupidly overpowered immortality and that his regeneration is way better than Larfleeze’s. However, it would surprise you that Larfleeze’s powerset is ironically made to counter Annihilus’ immortality. Annihilus can realistically regenerate from any injury that Larfleeze deals physically. The only issue is the timeframe. Annihilus’ regeneration is very inconsistent. As per Death Battle rules, we would usually take the quickest feat to show Annihilus at his “best.” However, even the “quickest” feat of Annihilus has an unspecified timeframe and narration implies that it was on the slower end. Sure, Annihilus could keep up the assault with the Annihilation Wave despite being “dead” for a bit and he could certainly use his stand-ins to fight for him or to simply regenerate from but there’s one simple problem… anytime Larfleeze kills something, the soul of whatever he killed gets trapped in the Orange Lantern ring and is used to create a construct that is added to Larfleeze’s army. This means that despite being initially outnumbered, the numbers would turn in Larfleeze’s advantage over time. Annihilus only has a few Lantern-tier warriors in the Wave that will be able to match Larfleeze and his constructs whereas Larfleeze has hundreds of constructs to fall back on that can all match Green Lanterns. This means that as the constructs kill members of the Annihilation Wave, the members will be turned into constructs that inherently are powerful enough to match Green Lanterns. Even the street-tier cannon fodder of the Annihilation Wave will be massively boosted in power to where they can easily bust entire planets and stars. Larfleeze will eventually wear down Annihilus’ army to the point where he [Larfleeze] would only be getting stronger over time whereas Annihilus would only be getting weaker.

And as for Annihilus directly, Larfleeze only needs to “kill” him once for Annihilus’ soul to be trapped in the Orange Lantern ring. With a massive advantage of having a more powerful army in Larfleeze’s corner (that only gets bigger and more powerful with time), there’s only so much Annihilus could do. Sure, he could hypothetically reverse time with the temporal powers of the Cosmic Control Rod but all that would do is delay the inevitable. Larfleeze’s army would once again, get more powerful. Annihilus could realistically mess with time enough times to where Larfleeze ends up in a situation where he is on the losing end but the truth is, Annihilus has never fought like this and the likelihood of him exercising time manipulation as a wincon is low. As far as traveling backwards or forwards in time to minimize the time it takes to regenerate, Annihilus has not done this ever and would not know to do this. He doesn’t have cosmic awareness and we cannot say for sure that he would know exactly at what point in time to teleport to. And this is assuming that Annihilus has not been turned into an Orange Lantern construct by then, so no matter what option Annihilus tries, whether it be overwhelm with the Annihilation Wave, try to capture him on-board and siphon his energy, or attempt to take him on in combat, Larfleeze has ways to turn the tide in the end, especially in his options to reduce the number advantage against Annihilus. While Larfleeze is far inferior in overall intelligence, the one thing he knows how to do, steal, is something that benefits him, and via himself or the constructs could take the Cosmic Control Rod to make the Annihilation Wave under his command, or have his constructs chomp through them to make them Orange Lanterns, leaving Annihilus to fend for himself before he ultimately falls to the orange light of avarice. So while Annihilus has might of his own, a unique array of abilities, and an unkillable nature, Larfleeze has the right powers, experience, sheer greed drive, and powers to bring down Annihilus, and make him the newest member of the Orange Lantern Corps.

Annihilus put Larfleeze through the ringer, but he was Tyana impossible knot against the Orange Lantern.

The Winner is Larfleeze, the one and only Orange Lantern.

Final Tally

Annihilus (0) - *Negative Zone cricket chirping*

Next Time…

Hi all, Bang here. Just wanted to pop in real quick and say thank you for your patience and continuous anticipation for the release of this blog. Just like Cassandra Cain vs X-23, though it took a lot of time, the important thing is despite many of our busy lives (“College has been a bitch” -Maddie Antiqua), we were able to pull through and make something that we think has gone beyond expectations, so I hope you enjoyed a very stellar blog for one of the best comic fights out there. Now that things are starting to get more productive and blogs are being made, I think it is well deserved that I can announce plans for the next addition to Bang’s Blogs…

A special thanks to NinjaMonkey3904 for the Background art, special thanks to Cabbage for the starting thumbnail, huge thanks to Sharaku Jr. and Shadow7615 for the scaling images, and shout out to 𝓐𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓪 for no particular reason other then he’s dope. (Also Morkez Marihser for the full fight script)
